Spray paint and emulsion on cut-out canvas, in white artist's frame. Hand-signed by Banksy on the backing board. This work features two of Banksy's most iconic motifs. Stenciled rats form the backbone, if not the foundation, of the artist's oeuvre and in their various forms and guises have appeared at street level across the globe, spray-painted on walls and objects via meticulously hand-cut stencils. A hint of Banksy's much lauded and hugely popular image, 'Girl with Balloon', also appears within the work presented here, in the form of a 'heart' shape, skillfully scalpel-cut out of the canvas by the artist's hand, to reveal the maroon interior behind the canvas, alluding to the red balloon of the Banksy classic. [The canvas and white artist's frame, framed to museum standard within a wood frame with museum glass, measuring 52.5 x 57.5 x 8 cm].
