Unique original drawing by Damien Hirst - a preparatory study for the interior of his 'Pharmacy' restaurant which opened in Notting Hill (London) in early 1998. Eventually closing it's doors in 2003, the following year in 2004, the restaurant's entire fixtures, fittings, decorations, furniture and artworks were sold in a single sale at Sotheby's in London - the first time an entire sale of works were consigned by a living artist. The sale caused a sensation, more than doubling it's pre-sale estimate, bringing in a total of GBP 11.1 million, creating a new world auction record for the artist, and with every single lot sold. This work includes Hirst's ideas for the interior, including his spot paintings, pharmaceutical cabinets, specially-designed furniture, all housed within a 'pharmacy' environment (and additionally annotated 'eating your lunch in the chemist...we have a strictly no drugs policy!!'; 'instrument cabinets in front window'; 'pharmacy cross...pharmacy green fabric'). Titled, 'Notting Hill' and signed by the artist (lower left), and additionally stamped with the 'P' logo and the molecular structure logo (on the reverse - which can be seen from the front of the sheet).
